A response about HP's flaming-printer.

If you feel that your printer runs different or something strange on its function. It is better to start worrying about your printing machine, because there might be unauthorized person accessing it.

Hewlett-Packard (HP) Company recently released a firmware update concerning the reports of consumers and experts that some of their printer products can be set into flame. This update said by the firm can fix the weakness of the LaserJet's firmware and make its security more reliable to the users.

So, how this kind of printer set into flame by hackers?

Back in November of 2011, according to the reports of MSNBC a group of researchers in Columbia University found out that some LaserJet printer models from HP contains a remote firmware updates. Researchers did offer an update on its firmware accompanied with malicious software that enables unauthorized access to take control of the printer.

After accomplishing the task of taking control of your printer, they can do harmful tasks like accessing your information, disabling your printer and the worst is setting it into flame. How they can do it? It is simply continuous heating up the ink-drying component of the laser printer to set in on fire.

How can I avoid or fix the firmware problem?

To avoid this to happen on your printer, you can update it on the company's support website (HP support) under "Drivers" category to make sure that you will get the real product update. But as of now, if your printer was already controlled or accessed by the hacker there is no way to get rid of it or even reverse the process. This firmware is not like a virus on your PC that you can delete or quarantine when the proper antivirus update came. Once you got the firmware, you own it forever.

To make it more safe, try to add firewall on your network security. This will help protecting your exposure over the network and disallow unauthorized firmware upload to your laser printer.

Want to know more about HP? visit their website at HP.com, but if you are looking for great quality toner cartridges like the HP 128A laser toner cartridges you can have them now on stores near you or search it online to save your money using coupons.

There are different kinds of papers that you can mount on inkjet printers, the double sided, heavy and thick papers are common. But maintaining the machine and its printing quality is a hard work to do. So, I came up with these few tips that can help in your printing venture.

Always keep in mind that even there are same inkjet printer models they are different in function, operation and specifications. Better not to expect the same result or process of maintenance if you obtained one another.

Here are some useful tips to help maintain your machine in good condition.

  1. Using your printer often requires daily maintenance. You can use cotton art papers and also a especially designed two sided inkjet papers, maintain your feed mechanism clean often. Don't forget to clean the feed rollers of your printer after a box of matte paper you use, because the coating makes each sides very smooth and might result in wrong feed of papers.
  2. In placing your paper on the tray, avoid pushing the paper tray guide against the paper leaving no space in between. The best thing to do is leave more the 1/4 inch of gap between the paper and the guide. Also, place a stiff card stock or even a chip board on the bottom feed of the sheet tray. This will able to keep your paper upright and closer to the feed rollers. But make sure when you do this your print count are set to avoid not to feed the board.
  3. Allow a little amount of air to release excess of coating or paper dust, and to easily separate paper sheets. You can use fan.
  4. Curling the edge of the paper slightly upward. Why you need to do this? It can help the printer to process more easier.
  5. Use your printer's special functions/features (usually on heavy types of paper). This will allow your printer to function correctly and avoid printing errors. Adjust your setting according to the kind of paper you are going to use. Check the printer manual if you want to know more about the settings/options of the printer.

So, what makes this printer good for your business? Dell 1355cnw is good to set up for your business using LED engine that fits well in what every person or business need. It does not use huge amount of space, that makes it better for small or medium sized business, also, it has a wireless connectivity and great quality color print outs that can make you more proud on your reports or other printed stuffs.

But, the only thing that makes this thing imperfect is its print engine, that was so slow that makes you wait and no auto duplex.

Far end of it, the Dell 1355cnw wireless connection and its easy controls can lead your group, team or business on easiest printing process, but it only takes a little patient in printing multiple documents.

In searching for the right type of paper that will best suit your photo printing you should pay attention on the different characteristics of the paper. Because having the wrong choice might have a huge impact in the quality of your print-outs.

To make it more successful also try to experiment using different kinds of paper, making sure that you will have the prints that you wanted. I'm pretty sure that there is a paper that will fit for every type of job. Also, try to check  out some online reviews about the photo paper that is good for your printer. To help you here are some of the characteristics of photo paper that you should consider in printing.

Characteristics of the paper

Thickness

The thick papers are appropriate to use in photo printing using an inkjet printer, they are more durable than thin papers. It is most often measured in "mil" and it can have a more traditional photo feel same photo that came from a photo lab. Search for a paper that has a higher opacity rating if you are going to mount your photos, it will not show your mounting surface and distort your photo.

Color

There is a saying that the brighter the paper, the better the photo will be, which is not true. There are scales in measuring the light reflectivity or the brightness of the paper: TAPPI scale and ISO Brightness Scale. So, the higher the brightness, the whiter the paper will appear, which results and make an accurate color. But avoid ISO Brightness over 104/TAPPI rating over 92, because it indicates that the paper contains a fluorescent whitening agents that can damage or degrade the quality of the ink/toner over a fairly short period of time. Buy those who have a lower values to make your photo last longer.

Paper Finish

In this characteristic you can choose between glossy and matte paper finish. A matte finish papers are more absorbent type of paper that consists of paper particles, ink-receptive coating and air. These papers are more stable over time. While glossy paper finish are far more complex with different chemicals added to generate a reflective surface. It can provide a higher color contrast and saturation.

Most of us think that images or photos developed using a printer won't last longer. But using tools and equipments that is appropriate for your printing machine, generated images/photos will last for generations. There is nothing better compared to a well chemically engineered materials.

But no matter what we do in protecting these great memories of us, it is exposed on different environmental conditions like moist and sunlight. These are one of the causes why some photos starts to get smudge or blur. But there is a way where you can protect your photos longer or even a lifetime.

Hewlett-Packard (HP) spend their time in finding different ways and perform testings to find a better solution.  Today, we enjoy the benefits of this great research and innovation from HP. A fade-resistance technology discovered at Wilhelm Imaging Research, the outcome - paper and ink that process with your own printer and generate a photo that can last for generations.

A test shows that the new HP inkjet print cartridges incorporate on HP Premium Plus photo paper can resist fading twice as long as the photos processed in a lab.

HP also offers a great line of quality laser toner products like the HP CE285A, a compatible black toner for your laser printer.

* I suggest that you should only purchase branded inks from the authorized seller or otherwise you will experience a lower print quality or a clogged print nozzles, if you want to save more money, buy extra-large capacity cartridges.

There are different brands of printer that comes with different specifications and cartridges. But, recently reported one of the customers received only a little amount of toner in the cartridge. So, how this is happen? are there any violation on consumer rights?

As most of us thought that buying a brand new printer will be accompanied with a brand new ink or toner cartridge in full amount. But as I researched online, I found out that these brands of new printers are often and very common to be sold with a little amount of toner. Is it legal? Yes it is, Before you purchase or use the printer, read the small printed wordings on the outer part of the box and checked if all the parts are included in the package. But you will also notice that printer cartridge only contained enough amount of toner or ink for the setup, this what makes it legal.

Most customer would not easily notice this and think that the amount of cartridge provided are in full. But, the truth is, it is only enough for the dry run (testing) process.

The Story of Mike James in purchasing a brand new printer

Mr. James bought an HP color laserjet CP1215 from PC World. The reason why he choose this is because it can print approximately 2,200 of printed pages in black toner. He is not a printing fanatic, so he expected that it would last.

But unexpectedly after printing a hundred page the black toner cartridge runs out. When he call for support and reported what happen on his printer to the provider. He was told that the cartridge incorporated in the brand new printer can only hold enough toner to setup a printer.

I hope that this short true story from Mr. James brought us a good lesson to learn. "Read before you complain".

Do not assume everything it is better to ask for advice on shop assistant to give you valuable information regarding the product or the service that you want to acquire.

According to the Consumer Protection Regulation of 2008, If the customers are provided or given with incorrect information, they have the right to file a case or get legal redress against the provider.

For more information about ink and toner cartridges you can visit an online merchant or expert for any advice such as TonerBoss.com, they provide full support with regards to the product that you need, plus they offer a free shipping of laser toner cartridges in the US continent.

A report released by eMarketer, which is conducted by the New York-based market research firm. That adults use most of their time with their mobile devices rather than with the print media (newspaper and magazines).

Dated December 12, 2011, The average adult spends 65 minutes (1hr : 05mins) with their mobile device, while on the print media is only 44 mins. 10 minutes spends on reading magazines and 26 minutes on the news papers. see the data below.

This would be the first year since eMarketer started taking their time tally back in the year 2008, where adults spent most of their time in mobile technology than on prints.

But, we still do not know how much time of these adults spent on mobile devices reading magazines and newspapers over the internet.

For mobile advertisers, this is a great news for them. Having a longer average of time means a higher possibility that they are going to be seen by vast variety of consumers. Mobile advertising is expected to continue its growth by 2015 sharing Billion dollar to the market.

How about printing? does printing industry will continue to grow? Accoring to the marketresearch.com:

"Despite the ubiquity of digital content, the centuries old printing business is still with us; reports of its demise have been premature. The printing industry went through a digital revolution of its own in the 1990s, and digital techniques have been rapidly replacing traditional offset presses ever since. The new technologies have allowed it to evolve capabilities geared toward more customization, better document management, and environmentally conscious materials and methods."

"The printing category covers the technologies enabling the new and traditional printing industry and the evolution of the printing service sector. The reports cover new concepts such as Web to Print as well as individual printing sectors such as periodical manufacturing, marketing and advertising printing, and books."

So, let us hope that printing industry continues to grow and provide more opportunity to all of us.
