The power of 3D printing machine and quality of ink printer is not only for printing industry nowadays, because it is now part of entertainment industry. The upcoming film "The Pirates! Band of Misfits" is the newest movie that will going to release this coming April 27, 2012 by Aadman, Sony Pictures, and Columbia Pictures, believe it or not, it is the product of 3D printing machine and printer inks.

Sony Pictures unveils how they used the latest printer technology and printer inks to create the said movie.

The story is about a Pirate Captain who set out on a mission to defeat his rivals Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek) and Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven) to win for the Pirate of the year Award. The quest will take the Captain (Hugh Grant) and his crew from the shores of Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian in London.

Ian Whitlock, the company's key animator told Fox News on how animators at their company used 3D printers to generate different forms of mouths for a number of characters within the film.

"We built about 8,000 mouths. For the Pirate Captain model, we made 257 separate mouths. For someone like Charles Darwin, we probably had about 130 mouths." said by Whitlock.

According to Rich Brown, Senior Editor at CNET, told Fox News: "The layers build up in liquid form. The material solidifies as it prints out each layer, and the end result is a 3D object in real life".

In the end, the video looks great and very artistic let us wait for its release in April 2012. If you want to find good quality printers and affordable inks like remanufactured ink cartridges and OEM inkjet, you can visit ColorTonerExpert.com. Different hospitals world wide normally does treating wounds of their patients, curing diseases, perform surgeries such as organ replacement, and more, but what about printing different body parts? Sounds weird right? You can ask surgeon Anthony Atala, one of the people behind this great innovation in health care.

Back in March 2011 at Long Beach California, USA, Anthony Atala and other members on their group, introduce this new kind of technology that can be used for treating wounds and replacing different body parts using an inkjet printer. But instead of using OEM's like HP Q6470A toner or remanufactured inkjet cartridges, they use cells and other living organisms to treat patients.

This printer functions like a combination of 3D and inkjet printer that scans the patient before curing their wounds externally, but treating the internal part makes them use CT scan to create a 3D object that will enable them to print it out. Printing can take hours but it can help save many lives, such as printing kidney that could take 7 hours in printing but it can help people to survive (printed kidney structures are early prototypes that are being studied experimentally and are years away from functional and clinical use").

In testing this technology makes Luke M. a college student survive death. He suffers in kidney failure but luckily he is the one of ten people choosed to undergo a serious operation using this kind of technology from Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine. Now, his good health condition is back and do whatever he wants to do.

Here is the video from TED about the printer that can save more lives in the future.

For more information about this video you can visit TED.com, but if you want to received discounts in printing supplies you can visit TonerBoss Coupons.

Most printer users around the world knows that having a printing machine and replacing an ink cartridge requires a huge amount of money. But I recently found out that there is another way on how to cut your printing expense while keeping your home or business printer running.

Inkjet cartridges are too expensive most especially on branded inks, and it easily run out suspiciously. You can notice this by looking at your computers Systray (Taskbar) there is a warning symbol on your printers icon, it indicates that your printer cartridge is going to be empty soon, and it will halt your printing process instantly.

But are you going to buy a new cartridge without checking if it is really empty? Even though we cannot see the inside part of the cartridge or use a tool that can check if the cartridge does still have the ink, we should not trust the software installed in the computer or the cartridge memory chip because sometimes it shows wrong result.

If you want to know if it is really empty, press the reset button beside the memory chip and insert the cartridge again, then reboot your computer to update its software.

Here is the tutorial video on how to reset the inkjet cartridge memory, to know if it is already empty or still had an ink:

To be able to save more cash in my business, what I did is that I have both types of printer which is the laser printer from HP that uses HP CE260A black toner cartridge and inkjet printer that uses a remanufactured ink. How it help me financially? Laser printing is much cheaper than printing in color, I use this kind of printer when printing only in black and white colors most especially in printing documents, then I use inkjet printer when necessarily needed such as printing images.

There are many users of Mac PCs that are shared on the same network, and typically they share different resources like printers. But sometimes a computer run by  Mac OS X does not work and connect on Windows machine. Fixing this might be a little bit tricky but worth it.

Use Line Printer Daemon (LPD) protocol for printing to the computer run by Windows OS. But first let us take some reviews about the difference between LPR and LPD.

Difference between LPD and LPR

Line Printer Daemon (LPD)/Line Printer Remote (LPR) are printer protocols that use TCP/IP to be able to create connections between printing machines and workstations that uses different operating systems on a single network. LPD software is commonly stored in the operating system of the printer or server, while the LPR must be in the users device. LPR acts like a remote that sends the documents or other data that will be printed out to the IP address of the LPD server or printer.

In default, Windows (XP) does not have the support for sharing printers via LPD, we will need to install the software first.

  • Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
  • Click Add/Remove Windows components section.
  • Click Other Network File and Print Services > Details.
  • Choose Print Services for Unix > OK.

By confirming that you want to install the software, you can now easily follow any onscreen instructions to finish the task. After setting it up, you are allowed to share using LPD in the Windows system. Now, we are going to configure your Mac PC to connect on the Windows machine:

  • You need to open the Print & Scan system preferences, then add a new printer.
  • Choose IP > Line Printer Daemon - LPD.
  • Input the IP address of the windows computer on the Address box/section.
  • For Queue name, make it the same as the Windows printer name.
  • If it is detected, then click on "Select Printer Software" and find the driver that is right for your printer model.
  • Select Add button to add and save the printer queue settings.

Now, your Mac PC can print to the Windows PC using the LPD protocol.

For more information about toner and ink cartridges you can visit ColorTonerExpert.com, they also offer free ink cartridge coupons to help you save more money.

Different employees and businesspersons in printing industry have their own guess and proper data on what is going to be the future of the printing business. So, what is the future of the printing industry? Is it uprising or is it going down? Lets analyze it a little bit deep to have a better speculations on what it would be in the near future.

According to the report which is released by PC World, their predictions on what can we expect in the future of printers most specially this year (2012) are going to be more cloudy. Wait did you mean cloudy? Yes, Experts in printing industry expect that printing over the cloud technology and wireless using a mobile phone to a local device already have their growth this year and continuously counting.

Back in the year 2011, where mobile workforce increasing and lots of people with mobile technology gain access to a new kind of printing process called mobile printing technology guess that printing would not last. Why? because in the same year new technologies arise that enables you to read even without printing hard copies like the iPad and more that can help you save more money.

So it means to say that it is really the end of printing?

If you are going to ask me and some of the experts in printing industry, we are going to answer "No". Printing will stay with us, it is a part of our culture like reading books, printing receipts, printing documents, resumes and more. I think this year is going to be great for printing industry. Because these days a new kind of technology coming from huge companies like HP, Apple, Lexmark (seller of good quality Lexmark laser toner cartridges), Google and more, Cloud technology was inserted on the operating systems of printers such as Canon, Kodak and Epson, and call it Cloud Ready Printers. According to the reports of GMA Network in the Philippines and Ang Cui's "Print Me If You Dare" one of the great presentations at the 2011 Chaos Communications Congress, employees or office workers from different companies might need to be more aware in storing or printing the information over the internet connected printer.

Why?

With regards to the finding of Ang Cui, an uncontrollable software can now be embedded in a malicious document to help expose the entire network that is connected on the infected printer.

BoingBoing.net, a group blog site said "Cui discovered that he could load arbitrary software into any printer by embedding it in a malicious document or by connecting to the printer online,"

What it does?

If your printer's operating system already contained the said malware and you send/store a document to a printer, it will copied by the machine and post them to an IP address over the internet.

Another thing is, when you use a computer connected printer that has the malicious software, it might cause the printer to scan the local area network (LAN) for vulnerable computers. When the malware finished the scan and detected some vulnerable PC's, it will turned into a proxy that grants hackers to get access to the computers.

What brands/types of printers that are possible to get infected?

The test or finding are found first when Cui reverse-engineered the process of updating the firmware on Hewlett-Packard printers. But he also believes that the issue of vulnerabilities to the attack might be present on other printer brands, models or products.

HP had already fixed the problem and the patch update is now available, Owners are now urged to apply the latest update because when the printers got the malicious software in the operating system it can handle or control the updates of the printer and can falsely report the new patch against it.

If you want to know more about HP, visit their website at HP.com or you can get their products from different merchants online that sell good quality HP inkjets and laser toner cartridges products.

Since that this blog focus on printing technology and industry, I will provide some tips to help you cut the printing expenses and save more money. The best way to start is to look for your printing process and separate the "wants" versus your "business needs". For example if you are always printing multiple pages, try the double sided printing process or the duplex printing.

Second way on cutting down the cost on printing is to use cheaper recycled paper when you are about to print internal document or information that does not need a quality printing and presentation. It is the good way of lowering the expense without affecting the standards of your company.

Third, Talk to employees or encourage them to read online or through their computers if possible instead of printing it out.

Finally, Match your machine where it best works for. If you are using HP printing machines using HP cartridges where it best works with. It can help you save more money and electricity.
