5 Easy Steps to Clean the Corona Wire to Fix Brother DR310CL Drum Error
Drum error is a typical print problem that anyone may encounter with a Brother laser printer. Similar to toner cartridge error that can be simply solved by just installing a new one, this problem can also be fixed likewise. However, in case it was not resolved through the said method you may consider some factors that might caused the drum error.

One of which that can trigger drum error is dirty corona wires. It’s a component that is part of the imaging drum unit which for a period of time may accumulate dirt and residual toners. Hence it leads to such problem with the machine. Well the good thing is it’s easy to clean this component. Refer on the instructions below on how to clean your Brother DR310CL drum cartridge’s corona wire.

Step 1. First release the front door of the printer from its lock and open it. Now access the drum units and pull them out of the machine through the provided green handle. You should be familiar on doing this since it’s just the same as removing and replacing its consumable. Unless you’re new to using a laser type printer, then that is considerable.

Step 2. Remove the toner cartridges from the drum unit. Always hold the items with the right handling position to avoid damaging the toners. Repeat this step until all the four cartridges are completely removed from the drum.

Step 3. You should now be able to see the latches that cover the corona wire, simply push them using your fingers to release the lock. A green tab should be visible from either the right side or left of the drum unit where you open the corona wire cover. With your index finger gently press the tab and slide it from both sides (left to right and vice versa) repeatedly. As a reminder please be aware or take note of the initial position of the green tab, as you will have to put it back to its home position afterwards. Do this step with all the remaining wires.

Step 4. Once done cleaning, close the corona wire cover and lock it through the green latches. Now get the cartridges you removed a while ago and install it back to their slots by sliding them into their corresponding drum unit.

Step 5. Return the drum unit back to its place by sliding it in until you hear it locks. Lastly, close the printer’s front cover and make sure it is tightly close or else the status LCD will display a message that tells the cover is still open. Restart the unit and see if the problem is fixed.
