This year (2011) might be a harsh year in some countries printing industry. But, most printing industry experts expected that by the year 2012 where great printing models and applications will be released can help increase or improve the printing usage and businesses all over the world.
Behind the Cloud and Mobile Printing
By the year 2012 there will be more special features added on every devices, the said year will give you more options such as on mobile devices that can connect on a local device wirelessly when used to print, while for cloud technology it will allow using electronic mail (e-mail) to print different kinds of documents and photos to a remote printer using its own e-mail address.
Mobile Printing
The end-user or the consumer will start using his/her own phone applications that will able to send photos or documents straight to a nearby printer using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
Cloud Printing
There are two giant companies that now provides cloud print services for free. The Google's Cloud Print App. and The Apple's AirPrint.
- Google Cloud Print - It is already available in the market but only in beta form, it allows every person to print using their e-mail on any printer devices that can be accessed through an internet connected computer. New printers from different brand such as HP, Epson and Kodak can be used to print via internet even without a PC.
- Apple AirPrint - This app allows you to use Wi-Fi to process a wide range of different printing jobs straight from an iOS devices to a compatible AirPrint printer. The list of compatible printers are still growing and includes Cannon, Epson, Lexmark, Brother and Kodak.
Back in 2010, Hewlett-Packard (HP), a supplier of wide range of HP inkjet cartridges, HP laser toner cartridges and other printing supplies reveals a web-based printing application that can print everything from maps to movie tickets. Also, they launched the consumer version of ePrint, that lets every user to print job from their email anytime, anywhere using enabled ePrint HP printer.
Within the same time, Lexmark introduce their SmartSolutions, a collection of great applications for every Lexmark exclusive printers. It allows every user to display their RSS news feed or even the weather reports on its color LCD screen.
Melissa Riofrio, Senior Editor of PCWorld said "The year 2012 will be a good one for printers. Though the underlying technology hasn't changed much, the addition of mobile printing via Wi-Fi and of cloud printing via email now allows printers to follow their users onto their smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices."
Let us all expect that the year 2012 will turn out to be good for printing technology and industry. I conclude that printing industry will never die because it is in the culture of every business and in most individuals.
